2024 CSU Shiley Haynes Institute for Palliative Care: Campus Partner Grant ($66,000) over two years, to establish and sustain Sonoma State University as campus partner with the Institute to promote palliative care, build awareness and develop ongoing partnerships within campus and community. Co-Director: Dr. Adele Santana, Faculty in School of Business.
2017-19 CSU Quality Assurance Grant through SSU Faculty Center: Serve as Faculty Lead for SSU-based Program to promote quality online teaching.
2019 Online Proven Course Redesign Program (OPCRP) – Implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) applications to bring an online GE course into compliance for anticipated university-wide requirements. Co-Recipient with Dr. Michelle Kelly.
Research
2018-19 Original research: a survey study of incoming post-licensure students’ knowledge, skills and attitudes around Palliative Care Nursing competencies, as part of larger project to integrate updated American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) palliative care competencies into nursing curricula.
2016 Original research: Verbal Processing in an Online Course; Using VoiceThread in an Online Nursing Research Class. Study conducted Fall 2016.
2016 Original research: Moral Distress of Nurses and Palliative Care in the ICU; national survey of ICU nurses on palliative care in the ICU, and experience of moral distress of ICU nurses. Dissertation for Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing.
2011 Original research: “Integration of Internationally Educated Nurses into the US Workforce” Primary Investigator, a qualitative study exploring experiences of staff nurses and nurse managers.
