Continuing to the Post-Licensure BSN Program at SonomaState University
Upon admission to SSU, proof of current California RN licensure (indicating NCLEX-RN pass), admission to the Post-Licensure BSN Program in the Department of Nursing, and enrollment in the program, the student is eligible for award of upper division nursing units for NLCEX. Based on individual transcript validation, SSU may award up to 20 units of nursing course credit pursuant to the CSU Chancellor’s Office Executive Order 1084.

The following minimum BSN degree requirements are met with this pattern:
- 30 units in Residence
- 18 units in Major
- 40 units Upper Division
- 9 units UDGE
- 120 units for the BSN
*NOTE
A maximum of 70 units may be transferred from any California Community College to any California State University. Additional CSU credit may be awarded for demonstration of prior learning as operationalized through passing the NCLEX –RN examination.
To meet requirements for any SSU baccalaureate degree a student must complete two courses in American Institutions:
(1) an approved American/U.S. History course AND (2) an approved U.S. Constitution/CA State & Local Government course. Students must complete both at MC prior to transfer to SSU. Units count toward BSN in SSU GE Area D.
SSU Graduation requirements also include: (1) one Ethnic Studies course, which can be met with Soc 202 at MC, or by choosing one of your required UDGE courses to meet this requirement and (2) passing the Written English Proficiency Test (WEPT).
NURS 312 (first summer course) is a ‘Writing Intensive Course” and satisfies the WEPT requirement. Students are STRONGLY encouraged to complete their Ethnic Studies course prior to transferring to SSU.
